The National Alliance to End Sexual Violence (NAESV) is the voice in Washington for the 56 state and territorial sexual assault coalitions and more than 1000 rape crisis centers working to end sexual violence and support survivors. The local rape crisis centers in our network see every day the widespread and devastating impacts of sexual assault upon survivors and provide the frontline response in their communities advocating for victims, spreading awareness and prevention messages, and coordinating with various systems including education, healthcare, criminal justice, and military that respond to sexual violence.
NAESV utilizes a comprehensive grassroots advocacy network to shape national policy related to sexual violence and survivors’ needs, ensure funding for rape crisis programs and sexual assault coalitions, and providing expertise to governments, businesses and non-profit organizations addressing sexual violence in all of its forms. NAESV educates the policy community about federal laws, legislation and appropriations impacting the fight to end sexual violence. Its team of experts and advocates publish written analyses, track legislation, provide media interviews, and advise members of Congress and the executive branch.
The National Alliance to End Sexual Violence has:
● Successfully advocated for relief funds for rape crisis centers in the American Rescue Plan as well as the creation of the Sexual Assault Services Program, the first federal funding designated specifically for services for sexual assault survivors, and has secured consistent increases to this
program even in tough budget years.
● Played a key role in shaping the federal response to campus and military sexual assault.
● Partnered with the NFL to develop a comprehensive response to sexual assault.
● Negotiated successfully for the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act, especially strengthened responses to sexual assault.
● Secured funding increases for the Rape Prevention & Education Program at the CDC.
● Assisted federal agencies to develop policies that are trauma-informed and survivor focused.
● Spoke out on high profile sexual assault cases emphasizing that offenders must be held accountable.

Most importantly, the NAESV advocates on behalf of all survivors who have needlessly suffered the serious trauma of sexual violence and envisions a world free from sexual violence.
